The pánu di téra [the blue cloth] she wears around her waist is very important to Cape Verde and a tradition/craft that is almost dying out. Women in Satiago wear it the most, and it is woven in Stiago. The pánu di téra was also a means of economic trade.
There are actually three types of pánu di téra (also called panos/pano)
1 pano chã
2 pano bicho
3 pano d´obra
The Pano d'obra is the most intricate and takes the longest to make.
